1956 – Travelling from Amarillo to Nashville, the plane that Elvis Presley was flying on developed engine trouble and was forced to make an emergency landing. The incident created a fear of flying for Presley.
1957 – No. 1 Chart Toppers Pop Hit: “All Shook Up,” Elvis Presley.
1961 – Bob Dylan Debuts in New York on This Day in Rock Music History! Bob Dylan has his first live performance in New York at Gerde’s Folk City, where he opens for bluesman John Lee Hooker.
1970 – Peter Green quit Fleetwood Mac while on tour in Germany, to avoid breach of contract he agreed to finish the current tour.
1970 – Paul McCartney announces he will not record with John Lennon again.
1981 – Musician Eddie Van Halen marries actress Valerie Bertinelli of TV’s “One Day at a Time.”
2000 – Van Halen Box: 1978-1984 is released this day in rock history! Release date: 2000-04-11
2002 – Former Mrs. Tommy Lee, Pamela Anderson says yes when bad-boy musician Kid Rock proposes to her in the desert outside Las Vegas.
2002 – Hard rocking acts Staind, Godsmack, and Aerosmith take home two prizes each at the 15th annual Boston Music Awards at Boston’s Orpheum Theatre.
2008 – Velvet Revolver:The exit door had no sooner hit Scott Weiland on the backside when his ex-bandmates in Velvet Revolver opened the door to the studio.
2011 – Yesterday, Bob Dylan plays a concert in HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam on this Day in Rock!
2012 – Agreement on Royalty rates for Digital music reached on This Day in Rock Music History! The Music Industry’s largest trade groupd agreed on rates for licensing music to online services such as iTunes and Rhapsody.
